Pinal County Greens Join Pima County Greens in Endorsing Charlie Manolakis for Congress in April 17 Primary in Arizona's 8th Congressional District

APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz., Mar. 24 -

Today the Pinal County Greens voted to join Greens in Pima County in endorsing community activist Charlie Manolakis in the April 17 Green Party primary for Congress in the special election in Arizona's Eighth Congressional District for the seat previously held by Gabrielle Giffords. The district includes parts of Pinal County, Pima County, Cochise County and Santa Cruz County.

"As the only Green candidate on the Green Party primary ballot, Charlie Manolakis has won the support of Pima County Green Party members," said Richard Grayson, Pinal County Greens co-chair. "We are happy to join them in pledging our support for this fine candidate."

Grayson noted that last week a Pima Superior Court judge threw out a meritless challenge to Manolakis' position on the ballot and urged independents as well as party members to vote for Charlie Manolakis on April 17.

"As the Pima Greens' Claudia Ellquist wrote in January, 'a Green voice should be heard' in this special election for Congress to debate the Democratic and Republican candidates," Grayson said.

"Along with the rest of the Arizona Green Party, we are thrilled that Charlie Manolakis will be our voice."

Pinal County Greens Urge Arizonans to Become "Green for a Day" to Vote in Feb. 28 Green Party Presidential Preference Primary

DAVOS, Switzerland, Jan. 27 -

The Pinal County Greens today urged Arizonans to take part in its "Green for a Day" campaign so that more people can vote in the February 28 Green Party presidential primary.

"Remember the old TV show -- my favorite as a kid -- Queen for a Day?" asked Richard Grayson, Pinal County Greens co-chair and one of six candidates for the Green Party presidential nomination on the ballot.

"Now you can be Green for a Day! Register to vote as a Green to vote for me or any of the other totally unknown candidates in the Feb. 28 primary," said Grayson, who is attending the World Economic Forum in Davos.

"After the primary, you can go back to being normal."

Grayson noted this post by Dan Gibson at the Tucson Weekly :
A helpful reminder: if you want to vote in the Arizona Presidential Preference Election set to be held on February 28, you'll need to be registered to vote aligned with either the Republican or Green parties by midnight on January 30.

It's wildly simple to change your party affiliation (if that's the sort of thing you're interested in) or to register for the first time. As long as you have an Arizona driver's license or state issued identification card that was issued after October 1st, 1996, you can complete the process entirely online. Democracy awaits!

Pinal County Greens Co-Chair Richard Grayson Hails South Carolina Primary Results as a Victory for the Afro-Punk Movement

Apache Junction, Ariz., Jan. 21 --

Green Party presidential candidate Richard Grayson, co-chair of the Pinal County Greens, tonight hailed the results of the South Carolina Republican primary as "a tremendous victory for the Afro-Punk movement."

Grayson, watching the primary results on a 13" black-and-white cathode-ray television in a trailer park in nothern Pinal County, told his supporter that Newt Gingrich's resounding defeat of Mitt Romney can be attributed to South Carolinians' historical support of the Afro-Punk movement going back a dozen years.

"I would like to congratulate the Carolina Afro-Punks on their capturing the hearts and minds of Palmetto State Republicans," Grayson said. "As a queer Muslim Afro-Punk from the Barrio and with Janelle Monáe as my candidate for Vice President on the Green Party ticket, we are going to remake America for alternative urban kids everywhere!"
